Hello folks. I know a lot of you have wondered how to lower your sugar and keep it level. Well, I have type 2 diabetes, so I plan to test out some theories on myself and give you the feedback here on my blog. I have been a diabetic for almost 7 years and I have never been able to keep it under control. With the new year my resolution is to get my diabetes under control. So as I travel my long journey I plan to keep you my readers in on my progress, along with the trials and tribulations I encounter along the way. As of New Year’s Day I have started to take Milk Thistle and Cinnamon to help regulate my sugar along with diet. Cinnamon I have taken before, and it worked. There have been studies on cinnamon and the results of this study demonstrate that intake of 1, 3, or 6 g of cinnamon per day reduces serum glucose, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol in people with type 2 diabetes and suggest that the inclusion of cinnamon in the diet of people with type 2 diabetes will reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. But the Milk Thistle is new to me so this is going to be interesting to see how it works. Scientists have not confirmed that taking this will help but they have decided that it shows promise in helping control diabetes. A daily supplement of extracts from Milk Thistle significantly lowered fasting glucose levels by 15 per cent, says a randomized clinical trial from Iran published in an international, peer-reviewed journal. I have started by taking one 175mg capsule twice a day of the Milk Thistle and one 500 mg. capsule of Cinnamon twice daily as well, and see how my sugar does on these for 2 weeks along with diet. So since we are a Bi- weekly paper I will be able to write my process for you in the next issue. So wish me luck and thank you for taking this long journey with me… Carrie Nicholas
January 20,2016 blog in Town & Country Papers Hello again guys! I am here to let you know how my journey with Diabetes is going. I have not been doing too well with my fasting readings lately. First of all, I had to stop my cinnamon pills because they were messing with my belly and keeping my heartburn flared up. Also, things have been a little stressful in the last couple weeks. I don’t know if you all know this or not, but stress play a very big role in keeping your sugar under control. I try to keep my stress to a minimum, but let’s face it in this day and age, it is almost impossible. Also, I am having some trouble with eating 3 meals a day and 3 snacks a day. Doctors recommend that you eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. Now if you are like me, then you were raised to eat 3 square meals a day and if you were lucky you got a snack in the evening. So, this makes it hard for me to get into the swing of eating like this. The reason they recommend this is so that you don’t have the sugar spikes. By eating smaller portions at meal time, and 3 snacks a day you will not be sending your pancreas into overdrive and it can regulate your levels better. Another thing that I am having trouble with is I have a family of 4. Feeding them is sometimes costly, let alone having to buy the food I am allowed to eat. I try to make things that I am allowed to eat and make the family eat better as well. This works most of the time, but you always have that picky one in the bunch. So, what I am trying to do now is have a pot of soup or brown beans made at all times, so I can have this for lunchtime and my morning and afternoon snack. Then, I will have a delicious healthy dinner with the family and to end my day with a peanut butter sandwich on wheat bread or whole grain bread. Stay tuned into my blog in the next paper, and I will let you know how that is working out for me. Thank you for taking the timeout to take this long journey with me. God Bless! WRITTEN BY: CARRIE NICHOLAS February 10,2016 Blog in Town & Country Papers Hello everyone. Hope all is well on your home front. As you all know by now, I have diabetes and I am trying to control it. However, I am not doing so well. Diabetes is such a complex disease that I find myself confused and overwhelmed. It seems I read one place that a certain food is good for you as a diabetic, then I read somewhere else that it can impact a diabetic in other ways. Therefore, I find myself discouraged a lot and just want to throw in the towel and let come what may. But, I have decided I need to grab the bull by the horns and take control and, maybe, along the way help others do the same. Hopefully, I can motivate myself and others. In my research, I have found out no matter what I do, I cannot get rid of carbohydrates completely. The body needs them and I just have to limit them. Which is hard for me, as some of my favorite things, like potatoes, breads and pasta, I have to limit the most. Luckily, I have found a list of non-starchy vegetables, and I am going to share them with you. Asparagus, artichokes, bean sprouts, beans (green, wax, Italian) beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, mushrooms, okra, peppers, salad greens, tomatoes and zucchini are the non-starchy vegetables that are recommended. You eat 2 to 3 serving (½ cup cooked or 1 cup raw) per meal. I have also found that just because the package says it is sugar-free, that is not always the case. Some sugar free items have sugar alcohols that constitute carbs. Another thing I found out, that I did not know, is that a diabetic should eat on a schedule. Same times every day and same amount of carb intake each meal. They say to spread them out 4 to 5 hours apart. Diabetics really have to take a lot into consideration in their meal preparation. It makes you not want to even eat at all, but then again, you can’t do that either or you bottom out. So, I guess that means we just have to suck it up and deal with it. I am hoping by writing this blog I can not only help myself learn more and do better, but help others as well. So until next time enjoy life and eat healthy after all we are only given one. Helloeveryone! It is your favorite country girl diabetic once again to tell youabout my journey through diabetic land. Well, I have decided to venture out and try something new today. It wasSpaghetti Squash, and I have found it not to be that bad. It is what mostdoctors recommend for diabetics to eat instead of pasta. I roasted it in theoven and did just as the recipe on this page says to. Once it was finished, Iput pasta sauce on it and it was quite delicious I must say. I have not tried it on the rest of the familyyet. However, I like it. I will have toblog on how they react to it another time. Along with watching my pasta intake, I have been trying to watch mypotato and bread intake as well. Alongwith my new diet my doctor has changed some of my medicines around in hopes oflower numbers. I was on 78 units of Lantis at bedtime, now I am on 84 units atbedtime. I was also on glipizide 10 mgonce a day and she upped that to twice a day. So far it seems to be helping along with my diet, of course. My numbers are more in range now than theyhave ever been. I am hoping as springapproaches to become more active in the outdoors. Mowing, cleaning andgardening among other things. I love toeat the food my husband and dear friends raise ourselves and those freshveggies are better for you than most everything else you could buy. I also am looking forward to canning season,I love to can our bounty of the summer season. So things are starting to get on the right track for me and I plan tokeep them going in the right direction. It takes a lot of work, will power and patience. But I will get there Iam sure, and I hope by writing this blog it will help some of my followers getthere as well. So until next time stay safe, eat healthy and enjoy life.

Wellhello there, it is your favorite Country girl again, here to tell you about heradventures in Diabetes and my life. Ihave been doing surprisingly well with my numbers levels for the past 2 weeks. They are staying for the most part in the range the doctor wants them to be. Iam giving mother nature the thanks for this along with eating better. I am loving this weather change. I am alwaysmore active when the weather changes to spring. The rebirth of nature stimulatesme to do more work outdoors and be out doors more often. This week I did a story on how liver is goodfor the body. The reason for my story and recipes this week deal with liver, isbecause I have severely low iron along with my Diabetes. Since my doctor always recommends I eat liverand spinach as a good iron supplement, I thought I would interpret it here inmy blog and tell you guys how it helps my body. As I just told you liver is a very great source of iron and as well asprotein. Protein is recommended by most doctors for Diabetics because it helpsbreak down the sugars in your body faster than it would if you did not eat anyprotein. I know you are saying “ewww, yuck no way am I eating liver.” Well letme tell you if you like steak or deer steak, then you will love beef liver andonions. Also, chicken livers are anotherliver that is good for the body and mighty tasty I might add. I have includedmy recipes for the way I fix my beef liver and onions and chicken liver. My family seems to like them, so maybe youcan give it a try to. So as Springawakens from its long winter’s sleep, let’s all get outside and enjoy what godhas given us and get more active and thus making us healthier. Until next timestay safe, eat healthy and enjoy life…

March 24 Blog in Town & Country Papers
Hello everyone, it is your favorite diabetic country girlonce again. This blog will not be on mydiabetes, but on how I am preparing for self-reliant living. As you all have noticed the weather hasstarted to warm, grass has begun to grow, birds have started to sing their mostglorious songs, as well as the most intriguing peep frog. Soon it will be timefor planting and gardening. I am readyfor it. I plan to have a garden and buy from local farmers, as well. My husbandand I have started to clear off a small patch of land to put up a chicken coopto house my free range chickens. I know you are wondering why I want to pen upmy chickens. Last year, I bought over100 chicks and this year we only have 9 left. Something got a full belly on mychickens and I refuse to let that happen again this year. I want to fix up a pen to put my chickens inwith a nice coop for them to provide me with eggs. Also I have bought 4 baby ducks and 10 newbaby chicks. Then it will be time tostart on the pig pen, and lot so that we can have a couple hogs in the fall, ifnot before. I am a firm believer onliving a self-reliant life style. I canand preserve all the fruits and veggies I possibly can. We try to raise all ofour own pigs, chickens, rabbits, and ducks for meat. I have tried to raiseturkeys, but that did not work out so well for me. My husband and I full of excitement to findthe time to go fishing so we can have that meat as well. We also cannot wait to be able to dig rampsand find morel mushrooms. An idealdinner for us would be a big plate of fish, fried tators and ramps, and friedmushrooms. Made my mouth water just thinking about it. So this year try to get out and do somegardening or support your local farmers market, and take it home and preserve itfor next winter. So until next time staysafe, eat healthy, get outside, do some gardening, or support local farmersmarkets and enjoy life!

Hello,it is your favorite country girl diabetic once again, to continue the saga ofher Diabetic life. The last few weeks orso have been beyond busy for me. We had our Grand Opening, at the office at 9Main Street Clendenin, WV on April 2nd. We had been raising money for weeks for ourgrand opening. We worked hard to raisethis money for the Clendenin’s Woman’s Club and backpack blessings. Also, forthe EnAct Group of Clendenin and their food pantry. I am proud to say wereached our goal of over $1,000. However, with all this going on, eating right has not been on the frontburner. However, my numbers are not offthe charts as much as I thought they might be. Thank Heavens. But as theweather warms, and starts to be more beautiful as the days go by, I tend to bemore active, which should help my numbers a lot. I am a firm believer that the weather plays amajor part in our overall health and well-being. Have you noticed if theweather is gloomy you tend to be gloomier and pained? However, if the weatheris nice you tend to have more energy, be more active, energized, and full oflife. That alone will make you want to be more active, and will help improveyour overall health. So, as the days gets longer and more beautiful, getoutside and enjoy the day. So, until next time stay safe, eat healthier andenjoy life.

Helloeveryone! It is your favorite DiabeticCountry Girl once again. I am writingonce again to share the next chapter in my diabetic life. Today, I am going totalk about homesteading. I have alwaysdone a form of homesteading, but I hope to become totally self-sufficient. As of now, I have chickens, ducks andrabbits. I hope to soon raise my own pigs for meat, goats for meat and milkand, also, to start a garden soon as well. I am excited to make my own spaghetti sauce, bbq sauce, ketchup, creamsoups, butter, frozen and canned vegetables and so much more. Lately, I have had a problem buying fromgrocery stores, due to the fact that every time you turn around you seesomething being recalled and the reality of all of chemicals they use topackage and process the food. If I raise my own food, then I can controleverything that goes into it. That alonewill give me piece of mind, and it will save me a boat load of money. I alsoplan to make my own soap, dish soap, body wash, fabric softener (I have madethis for years), flea repellant, mosquito repellant, washing powders (I havedone this for years as well). I also have recipes for dehydrating as well. I amso excited to get started. Now, not only can I provide for my family good, healthy food and save money in one hand. I can make food that I know I can eat, that will not make my diabetesany worse in the other. As of right now, my numbers have been doing great and Iam walking now in the evening. Hopefully, this will help my numbers stay in the good range. So, untilthe next time stay safe, eat healthy and enjoy life.

Hello everyone! It is your favorite Diabetic Country Girl once again. As you know, if you are a
faithful follower, I am here to tell you more about my diabetic life. Well, I went to the doctor the
other day and they tested my eyes and found out there is no Diabetes showing in my eyes, which
is great. Sometimes Diabetes can affect the retina of the eye, and this could be very bad for your
eyesight. Since my numbers have been in the 100 to 150 range for a while, it must not have taken
a toll on my eyes, thank heavens. I also decided to talk to my doctor about the chest pains I had
been having. At the time, I was experiencing chest pains around the Bronchial tubes. It was to
the point, just walking up my stairs was a task, because my chest would hurt and burn like it was
on fire, and I would be completely out of breath. However, I knew what was happening because I
usually get Bronchitis every year at this point. The pollen this year has just been down right
horrible. You can look out at the cars and other flat surfaces and see this green dust covering
them. This is the pollen that gets into our lungs and gives us breathing problems in the Spring. I
love Spring, but this is one of the factors I could totally live without. I try to keep myself busy
though with my gardening and other spring chores. I now have 30 beefsteak tomato seeds
planted, 24 roma tomato seeds, 24 bell pepper seeds, 3 pots of cilantro, and a parsley plant. I also
have about 20 onions coming up, along with a large container of lettuce. We have not been able
to plant much in our garden yet, because it has been too wet. However, we do have one row of
potatoes and one row of beets planted. So, my little farm life is coming along nicely. Speaking
of my farm life, I was totally surprised and excited to see that my black hen had hatched off 15
new baby chicks. 15 baby chicks are a lot of babies for one little hen to take care of. So we put
her and the babies in a cage in my front room. However, she became a little too aggressive so
we put her in the coop with the chickens and kept the babies nestled in their nice little pen till
they are old enough to go in the coop. They are so cute; I love my chickens. Well, this is about
all that has been going on in my life. So, until next time stay safe, eat healthy, stay active and
enjoy life
Hello it is your favorite country girl diabetic once again to tell you about the continuing saga I
call my life. I want all of my readers to know, yes I am a diabetic, and yes, I am a country girl,
therefore when I write I want to show you how my diabetic life and my country life intertwine. I
am hoping to have something new and exciting to write about for every issue. Now, the last
couple weeks started out pretty quiet with my diabetes until I started to wake up with my sugar
dropping or already dropped. One morning it was 74, which is low for me. I am used to my
numbers being between 100-150. I felt so disoriented, clammy and shaky that I had to eat a half
a peanut butter sandwich at 6 am and that threw off my entire day. I don’t know if you all are
anything like I am, but in the spring my body tells me to eat more veggies and fresh foods that
would be good for a diabetic. In the winter, I guess I was in hibernation mode because I packed
on the carbs. I am also a lot more active in the Spring, Summer and Fall months. With
gardening, yard work, canning and other chores, I am up and moving around more than I do in
the winter, and I think that plays a major factor in my numbers. I love having a garden, so I can
put everything in jars and store it. Not just to save money, but also so I know what goes into my
food this way and that in turn makes it healthier. As we all know, vegetables are something a
diabetic can pretty much eat all the time and they can be very expensive. I cannot afford to buy a
lot of fresh or canned veggies, so I raise my own as much as possible. Another thing I like to do
in the Spring is to raise my own meat animals and catch fish. I started out buying 15 chicks this
season and a week later we found 15 chicks one of my hens had hatched. So with almost 30 +
chicks I am sure I will be putting some roosters in a jar this fall. We also bought a breeding pair
of rabbits this year in hopes to be able to can some this fall. So as you can see, just because you
might be a diabetic does not mean you should not enjoy the country, homesteading life style. So
until next time eat healthy, grow your own food, be happy and farm on!
Some of my pointless ramblings

JULY 5, 2016
Hello guys I know we don’t have an office right now for Town & Country Papers. However I feel like writing.. So I am gonna write and post on my group for whoever may want to read it.. The past month or so has been a very emotional ride for me. First of all I find out that I needed to see a DR for my heart and that scared the crap out of me.. Then the stress test.. I have always been afraid of them cause my daddy told me he would never have one he would die first.. AND HE DID!!! He did the morning of his stress test, so that has always frightened me alot. But that went ok, then they tell me I need a heart catheterization. That scares the crap out of me…. Well then all the flooding and devastation came along.. That has been the kicker in my emotional roller coaster. I have seen so much devastation, loss, help, sadness, greediness, selfishness, and new friendships emerge from this catastrophe. This world of people never ceases to amaze me. I have seen communities wiped off the map and pull back together and rebuild in a way that is not describable. I have seen people who have given and I have seen people who have taken. I guess it takes all kinds to make this world go around. I myself and my husband have worked tirelessly to get my neighbor's house back to living status. She was more fortunate than most, she only had a foot and a half of water in her house. Some people came to help her the day she could get back into her house. I know they were just doing what they were told but they threw away EVERYTHING. Things that were not touched by flood waters like a TV that was 4 ft off the ground, dishes that could be washed, important papers like diploma’s and degrees, cloths that could be washed because they were not touched by flood water and a lot more. Don’t get me wrong we were grateful for the help but she had taken a seizure the night before they were there and was not of good brain the day they were there. Let alone the mere shock of it all. However she has Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, and asthma. Her mother who lives with her has severe lung damage and has had multiple strokes, so this house has to be disinfected and walls taken out and so on and so forth. My plan is to get her in her home as quickly as I possibly can. I wish I had the strength and health to help everyone. So many people have lost their homes, businesses, belongings and even their lives. Town & Country Papers office lost everything. We will be starting back from scratch. But the our homes were spared so we were luckier than most. Well this is just some pointless ramblings I thought you might want to read.. We are WV STRONG!!!!!! So until next time stay safe, help one another, and do not let greed take you over.
CARRIE ROUSH NICHOLAS·SUNDAY, JULY 10, 2016
Hello again from your favorite Diabetic Country girl!! Alot has been going on around here with the flood, rebuilding and devestation.. However my diabetic numbers are good… they are running from 90 to 140… So I will take that as a score… I was supposed to go for a heart catherization on Monday but I rescheduled it do to all the work that is still to be done with the flood.. I may not have had any flooding or anything but I have been helping my neighbors out as much as I can. One of my neighbors is disabled and she lives alone with her mom.. (she is my editor.. So if I sound bad it is because she is not editing me lol) I have been helping her get assistance and get things back in order to get her home. Due to the fact her mother has severe lung damage so, we have to disinfect extremely for her. I want to say though through it all we were the lucky ones… I drive through places like Clendenin, WV or Clay, WV and I see people who have lost their homes, their belongings, their entire lives set in a pile of rubble waiting for the trash dude to come by and pick it up.. Breaks my heart and I pray for those folks day in and day out. Their was 20 + lives lost in WV alone in this historical flooding.. I want to write about something else but this is what weighs heavy on my heart and mind right now.. Hope you all are not upset with me over this… I know Town & Country Papers lost everything and that alone was devestating but we did that was a business… It was not like loosing our homes and our lives… Town & Country Papers will be back in our tiny little office in Clendenin, WV but it will take some time. 90% of our advertisers lost everything in their businesses and some lost their homes.. So we will not be printing untill they are able to advertise with us once again. We are a loyal paper to our clients and will do what ever it takes to help them out as well… But be fair warned WE WILL BE BACK!!! I plan to work on articles and have a bunch ready to go when we do come back.. However on a lighter note the farm is flurishing great. I have several new editions to the farm. I have two 8 week old kittens, 3 month old puppies and a baby rabbit. 2 out of 3 of the pups have their eyes open… The baby rabbit my dog had in it’s mouth.. He tore through the borrow and stole the baby and my husband saved it.. We now have it in a cage on my front porch hoping to save it. So things around the farm have been rather interesting to say the least lol…. I hope no one minds that I continue to write and post here on my page. I would post it on our facebook page but I don’t know how people would react to that…. So until next time stay healthy, active and BE WV STRONG!!!!!
CARRIE ROUSH NICHOLAS·THURSDAY, JULY 28, 2016
Hello again from your favorite country girl Diabetic. Well as you know I had to go see a new Cardiologist the other day and have a stress test, a echocardiogram and a corroded artery test done. I went today and got the results to most of the tests. The corroded artery test came back good, no blockages in the neck, thank heavens. We are still waiting on the results of the echocardiogram. And the stress test, well Dr. Wizer says there was some abnormalities with it and he wants to do a Heart Catherization just to make sure there is nothing major going on. He says sometimes when a person is chubby (as I am) one can not get a good picture of the bottom chambers of the heart. This is the reason for the Heart Catheterization. This will be done on July 11th. If I told you I was not in the least scared I would be lying through my teeth. I Have not had one of these procedures done since I was 12. I worry about all the needles, I know I will be a human pin cushion while I am in there. I worry about what they will find, what they will have to do once they are in there, and will I feel anything while they are performing the procedure since I will be awake for the hole thing? Non the less I plan to pray to the good Lord up above and with that I am sure everything will be fine. On a lighter note, everything on the farm is kind of quiet and growing nicely. I have blackberries starting to ripen, 2 tomato plants with marble sized tomatoes on them, I have cherry trees but they have already fruited and are done for the season. I do not usually do anything with the cherries because they are so sour. I am hoping to get a couple of baby pigs in a few months. The lady I am getting them from says her sow is due in a couple of weeks. I am so excited. I love the fact we grow our own food, not only because it is healthier but I can control what goes into it and I like that. My plan is to put any and everything I can into a jar and store it in my cellar this year. Just the other day I had a friend of mine give me 8 hens making me a total of 13 hens, 2 roosters and 25 young chickens. I plan to raise the young ones up and can the roosters. So life on my little farm is good. Until next time stay healthy, stay active, say your prayers and enjoy life.

Hello everyone it is your favorite diabetic country girl once again to share with you some of my pointless ramblings… My sugar numbers have been doing great… I do not know what I am doing unless it is the fact I have beens so TREMENDOUSLY busy and snacking along the way or what but hey I will take it … lol Things right now are so busy and so many changes coming right now I do not know where to start. I guess I will start with the biggest change in my life .. THE LUNCHBOX… My dear friend and sister from another mother Crystal Myers and I are opening a hot dog stand in Clendenin, WV… Since there is no where to eat we decided to use that to our advantage and help out the community as well. I am super excited to be doing this. However I have not had an actual daily job in 15 years where I was working at Pizza Hut in Elkview, WV 16 hours a day. I worked for the Town & Country Papers but that was easy work to me. This is a lot of difference. I am just hoping and praying I can handle it. ONe of my biggest fears is letting people down. I will do my all time best not to.. But I am harder on myself than anyone else is I know that but like I said I HATE letting people down. The community, Crystal, and my family… I will DIE if that is what it takes to make this business a success for her… I know I am crazy but I want to make sure she doesn't lose anything because of me. That would KILL me… I have done this kinda work before I worked at Shafer’s in Clendenin back when they made the best chicken in town.. I worked at the old Linda’s Tastee freeze as well.. But that was so many years ago. I guess I just worry about me having Diabetes, heart murmur, and so on so forth and my age that I will let her down :( .. I WILL NOT LET ANYONE DOWN!!!!!!! That is my pledge.. I know I am hard on myself but that is what I have to do to keep me on point. I DO NOT CARE if i make a dime as long as I can do my best and keep her up and running that is all the payment I need… I will be working 6 days a week from 10 am to 7 pm and that is fine as long as we can serve the community and stay afloat… So come on down to the Lunchbox in Clendenin, WV at the bottom of Kelly Hill just past Murdock’s garage and see us when we open. Right now we are waiting on the electric to be turned on. Someone stole the meter head to put in their home to have free electric. So as soon as AEP gets that up and running we will get expected and open... I AM SUPER EXCITED..
CARRIE ROUSH NICHOLAS·MONDAY, AUGUST 22, 2016
Well hello my peeps… It has been awhile since I have blogged so I thought I would share a little bit with you this morning. A Lot of changes have come into my life. I have been working at the Lunch Box for 4 days now and have not had a lot of time for anything else. However it has been most worth it to me to be able to serve the great citizens of Clendenin, WV and an honor to do so beside my best friend and sis Crystal Myersl Myers. Most of the time I am dead on my feet but it is all worth it at the end of the day to know that I have been there to help so many…. We are still working out the kinks and trying to get our feet under us so please be patient!! We have 2 wonderful people so far working with us Lori Woods-Hall nd Harli Rhodes Rhodes…. They are great workers and wonderful people… This past saturday we had a family thing going on at the Lunchbox.. Not only was it the first Saturday that the Lunchbox was open but we had my 2 daughters Arizona Roughna Roush and Britney Nicholas Nicholas working with us.. We are going to make this and every Saturday thing.. This is the first time my kids have had any type of job so it will be good for them.. Crystal’s husband Raymond Myersnd and my husband Steven Nicholas have been wonderful.. They do all the maintance for us.. Saturday they put in a fridge and a stove and moved around equipment and that is a drop in the bucket to the things they have done for us… This week will be our first full week open so we shall see how that goes….. I have also been working in a group called “Christmas for the Flood Victims” with my cousin Jason Mullins and his wife Brandi Mullins and they are doing a wonderful job getting this up and running.....Well my diabetic numbers have been good but where I am busier and not eating as much my sugar has been dropping at night.. So I had to cut back on my Lantis.. That is a good thing tho.. Well until next time Enjoy life, Love one another, be happy and safe...
CARRIE ROUSH NICHOLAS·SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2016
I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND MY DISEASE!!!! I have been really busy lately working for the Lunchbox in Clendenin Wv and I love my job and being busy.. But I have not been able to blog much so here it is.. I have had some real trouble keeping my diabetes under control lately. My sugar has dropped more in the middle of the night in the last month than it has since I was diagnosed. I eat supper but seem between 11 pm and 1 am it wants to drop down to anywhere betwee n 50 and 55. I was on 88 units of lantis, 2-10mg tablets of Glipizide and 1500 mg of Metformin. Well I lowered my Lantis to 80 units a nite and now I only take 1 Glipizide nightly . But I just did that like 2 days ago so we shall see on that one. Yesterday at work I had the hardest time keeping my sugar up ... I felt like it was dropping like 4 times yesterday. I don’t know if I am carb overloading and then it is dropping or what but I HAVE NEVER had this much trouble before. When I was put on all this meds my sugar was only staying around 250 but my A1c was around a 9 however my dr. NEVER took fasting blood work. She said it was not necessary since it was a overall reading for 3 months. NUTS!!!! I switched DR.’s to Clendenin Clinic and saw my new DR once then the flood hit... The we started on the Lunchbox and I never got back to see him.... I have been tring my hardest to make sure this place is a success for my wonderful friend n Sissy Crystal Myers and I will either make it a success or die tring lol... However I am loosing weight.. Idk the actual number but I can feel it in my clothes. So maybe that is the factor in my sugar dropping IDK, but I will make me a dr. app real soon and see what I can do .. So until next time stay healthy, active and happy....
