As of April 1, 2015 there will be afew more options for hunters, checking in their kill. This new system will take effect as of April27, 2015, the first day of Spring Turkey Season. There will be three new options for checkingin game. First one being calling it in, at 1-844-824-3251 . Second one being go on the website www.wvhunt.com and check in your kill. Thirdone being your local checking station, to which now u DO NOT have to take inthe animal for this.
Toutilize the call in and online features they must go to this website or call toobtain their DNR Identification number. This will be their number for life. No other Identification numbers willbe needed.
To dothis they need a name, date of birth, home address, social security number, valid phone number, a driver’s license or green card, passport, or non-driver’sIdentification card.
Theywill still carry their paper license, however, if they already have theirlifetime license, then they just need to go to the website and verify theirinformation. Even a landowner hunting onhis/her own property needs a DNR identification number to check in the killelectronically.
Thedeadline to be registered to utilize the phone and online features is April 27,2015, which is the first day of Spring Turkey Season, the deadline for Deer Bowseason is November 23, 2015.
Theprocess for checking in the kill is rather easy. They, first of all, need tofill out the field tag as they normally would. Then they will need to call the number or go onto the website and entertheir DNR identification number and last four digits of their social securitynumber. Then fill out the information on their kill. Weather it be a deer, turkey, bear, boar etc.this how they should do it.
Oncethey have done this, they will receive a thirteen digit verification number. This number should then be applied to the field tag and attached to the animal. They should leave it there till the animal has been processed. Some people will keep these tags for futurereference. The DNR can come into yourhome at any given time, without a warrant, if they see something or have reasonto believe a person might be doing something they should not be doing. So if you have these tickets in hand theproblem will be solved rather quickly. But do not worry if you have lost or misplaced your tags you can most certainlygo to the website and look yourself up and track your kill history on there.
The DNRfeels if they have all the hunters on one website, they can caluculate thekills more accurately and timely. Happy Hunting!
